During the period favourable for conception after the sexual intercourse it becomes a ‘Kalala’(one-day-old embryo) and is a mixed-fluid state. After remaining seven nights it becomes a vesicle -‘Budbuda’. After a fortnight it becomes a spherical mass “Pinda”. After a month it becomes a firm mass. After two months the head is formed. After three months the limb regions appear.” In the fouth month the belly and hips are formed; in the fith month the backbone is formed; in the sixth month nose, eyes and ears are formed. In the seventh the child is conscious and in the eigth it is complete and ready to be born. If the fathers seed is stronger than the female seed it becomes male, if not, it becomes female. The child gains nourishment through his mothers though nerves and vessels. In the ninth month it is born.(Kak)
Charaka Samhita
1. In the first month when sperm and ovum unite they turn into a seed-form and stick to the mucous membrane and start increasing in size. This seed divides from one into two, two to four, four to eight and so on till a round seed-form is formed.
2.This seed-form has the capability to give rise to all kinds of tissues and organs.
3. There are two types of seed-forms – the inner and the outer. The outer seed-forms are bigger than the inner seed-form. After sometime, a cavity is formed which is filled with fluid in between the two seed-forms. This fluid creates a gap between the two layers.
4.In the third month, all germinating parts appear.
5.) At this time the head is quite large. The fingers are visible.
b) The male and female sex organs are formed.
c) The eyelids and lips are not separated.
6. Normally, after birth the hole in the middle flap of the heart chamber closes.
7. The heart of the foetus is attached to mother by fluid taking vessels.
b) By the third month, heart appears and also starts pumping
8.) By the third month, foetal heart increases in size and the foetal heart chambers are formed. b) But the foetal heart sound (FHS) can be heard per abdomen around the 4th month.
9.The mucous membrane of the vagina gives a bluish tinge. And this sign appears by the beginning of the second month.
8. In the fourth month, the shape of the body is almost formed. The pregnant women feel the foetal movements at times in this month.
b) On head and at other sites instead of hair, fine hair-like structures can be seen.
9. In the fifth month due to the increase in the body mass and blood of the foetus, its movements can be clearly felt by pregnant women.
b) In the middle or at the end of this month a physician can hear the FHS with the help of stethoscope.
10. First of all FHS is heard in the midline above the gluteal region. Later the site of FHS changes as per the presentation and lie of the foetus. This sound is heard after passing through the scapula and ribs of the foetus and therefore heard near the foetal shoulder.
11. Prior to the sixth month the foetal skin is wrinkled.
12. Eyebrows and eyelids are formed and the latter are still fused
13. The testes descend near scrotum.
14. Baby born at the end of this month can survive only if provided with the special care. Majority of the babies born in this month do not survive.
15. Eighth month
Fat accumulates beneath the skin and the wrinkles disappear.
The foetus can survive if raised carefully.
16. Gestation period = 9-12 months.
17. a) The testes descend into scrotum in ninth month.
b) The foetus measures 20 inches in length and weighs approximately 3.5 kilograms.

Quran: The semen and the blood congeal to form a leech-like clot, then a lump, which is clothes with bones and then flesh.
Hindu: The fertilzation of the ovum by the semen causes it to fuse together in a seed-form, causing cell division and the size of the seed-form to increase to a round ball over a period of a month. Then due to the cavity between the inner and outer layers, a fluid fills it. In the third month all germinating parts appear: the head growing to a large size, fingers emerge, sex organs form and by the end of the month the heart and its chambers are formed, causing the foetus heart to beat. In the fourth month the body is in an advanced stage of development, and also begins to grow very fine hair on parts of its body. Its movements become tangible. In the fifth it's body mass and blood increases. Then skin begins to form in wrinkiles and over the sixth and seven month its eyebrows and eye and eyelids develop(but eyes still fused) In the eigth month fat develops under its skin and it is ready to be born. In the ninth it is born.

Quran Sura 53:19-23, centered specifically on the three goddesses worshiped by the pagans of Arabia called Allat, al-Uzza and Manat.
